The name of the fourth committee is &#8220;<strong>Committee on the Present Danger: China.<\/strong>&#8221;\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> In <strong>June 2004<\/strong>,&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Hill_(newspaper)\">The Hill<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;reported that a third incarnation of CPD was being planned, to address the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/War_on_Terrorism\"><strong>War on Terrorism<\/strong><\/a><strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> On <strong>11 November 1976<\/strong>, the second iteration was announced. The name of this version of the Committee was &#8220;borrow[ed]&#8221; from the 1950s version, and was not a direct successor. 141 founding Board Members and a policy statement, &#8216;<strong>Common Sense and the Common Danger<\/strong>&#8216;, were introduced at the CPD&#8217;s launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> On <strong>12 December 1950<\/strong>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/James_Bryant_Conant\">James Conant<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tracy_Voorhees\">Tracy Voorhees<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vannevar_Bush\">Vannevar Bush<\/a>&nbsp;announced the creation of the <strong>Committee on the Present Danger<\/strong>.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Committee_on_the_Present_Danger#cite_note-:0-5\">[5]<\/a><\/sup>&nbsp;The group was formed in order to support the Truman Administration&#8217;s remilitarization plans contained within&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/NSC_68\">NSC 68<\/a>.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Committee_on_the_Present_Danger#cite_note-:0-5\">[5]<\/a><\/sup>&nbsp;The &#8216;present danger&#8217; to which the group&#8217;s title referred was &#8220;the aggressive designs of the Soviet Union&#8221;, the CPD announced. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Committee on the Present Danger: China Fourth CPD March 25 2019 Blue-Ribbon Team Launches the \u2018Committee on the Present Danger: China\u2019 April 25, 2019 Briefs &hellip; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":355,"parent":332,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-343","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/yuzb.net\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/343","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/yuzb.net\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/yuzb.net\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/yuzb.net\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/yuzb.net\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=343"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/yuzb.net\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/343\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":356,"href":"https:\/\/yuzb.net\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/343\/revisions\/356"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/yuzb.net\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/332"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/yuzb.net\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/355"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/yuzb.net\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=343"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
